Aliens: Colonial Marines Trailer

The influence of the Aliens franchise on games is pretty undeniable. Hell, James Cameron's 1988 entry to the series practically defines the space marine idea that has been utilized time and time again since Doom in 1993. So, it's kind of amazing that there hasn't been a truly great Aliens game in quite some time. Gearbox and Sega are looking to change that, though, by staying true to the series in the upcoming Aliens: Colonial Marines. And in this developer commentary trailer, they set out exactly how they're going to do that.

Here's the problem with sticking too close to the source material, though: It's been done. The idea of a group of marines fighting their way through hell on an abandoned planet isn't exactly new to the gaming space. So, for Gearbox to be able to pull off something really great with the franchise, they'll really have to be thinking outside of the box. But then again, what do I know? They found success with Borderlands, and that sort of lootfest isn't exactly out of the ordinary either.
