Dead Island Riptide CGI Trailer

Here's a question I never thought I'd ask myself: How do you top a game trailer where a backwards-traveling girl gets chomped by flesh-hungry monstrosities? Apparently you do it by depicting a pair of star-crossed lovers exploding, thereby taking said flesh-hungry monstrosities with them. Such is the case with Dead Island Riptide's newest teaser, and boy does it tug at those emotional heart strings.

While, as with the original Dead Island's first look, this clip has no gameplay in it whatsoever, it certainly sets the tone for the non-sequel. Hell, it's safe to say the waterlogged Dead Island Riptide is poised to take a significantly darker turn from the trouble-in-paradise setting of Dead Island. No more taking a stroll on a clear sunny day to lob limbs off the undead, you're going to have to deal with clouds now! Spooky.
