The Rainbow 6 Patriots team has taken a cue from its namesake and gone dark over the last several months, leading us to wonder if the project had been quietly killed. According to Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot, though, the game is still in development and may make the jump to next-gen systems.
"The only thing I can say is that we have a good team working on it, and it's really looking good," Guillemot told Polygon. "So when it will come, it will surprise the industry." Guillemot also commented that "there's a good chance" the game will appear on the next generation of consoles, expected to debut next year.
Patriots received a lot of attention for its target trailer, and a morally gray story involving home-grown terrorism. Development seemed to be running smoothly until March, when creative director David Sears left the project. Last we heard, the new creative director was evolving the game, rather than reinventing it, while Sears amicably moved to another project at Ubisoft.
